Hello Russ and everyone just joined today. :)

I also made a entry into the pulsed motor contest it’s a pulsed gravity motor where a weight is shifted to the top of the wheel and gravity pulls it down to the bottom and spins the wheel.

Hope everyone likes it!

It’s very crude and needs improvement but it works.
Not sure I sent my zip file to the right place so I will put it here also.

Wow! That thing is awesome!  Great work!

I tested another configuration on mine last night... didn't work.  So when I get home tonight I have to tweak some stuff and make my video.  It'll be close, but I will have a video before midnight Central time!

Thanks BRUXXUS !

It was a fun project took about 3 tries before I came up with something that would work. Wish I had thought of the magnetic reed switches on the side first that way I could have adjusted the timing and got a better performance.

Look forward to seeing your entry and hope you make in on time.

Best of luck!

well im in tampa, fl now and i dont have a thing with me now :( so instead of entering to win ill just explain what i had goin on.... i was using ed's pmh to rotate a bunch of magnets... it was hooked up with an arduino with a simple switch to turn  on power from an 18 volt dewalt drill threw some coils over a 4 foot steel bar i bent in half.... works well all the neo mag all over the table first pointed towards the pmh... then i got the pulseing down so that they spin... my next step would of been to mount them to small bearings like skateboard/rollerblade bearings) maybe hook up a small lil fan blade to each or some pullys... i tip my hat to everyone whos made one and seriously thought about it but just couldnt finish in time!  have a good one!!!

COOL!
love the gravity pulse motor...with more rods and mass that thing could have awesome torque...righto im waiting for my camera battery to charge so i can finish making a progress video.
a little over 2 hours left until midnight US central time gah the pressure lol:D

So, here's my entry for the contest.  It's BARE bones right now, still have a lot of work, I'm a newby to electronics, so don't hate  :o)   I'm going to play with this more over the weekend, and will most likely turn this into a kinetic sculpture, lol.

Man Nate I love that rig.

Here is my latest vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBT3PRCubk0 Rpms have risen to over 4700 now voltage steady. Can anyone tell me why placing a piece of aluminum close to the rotor will slow it? That's not meant to happen right? What am I missing here?
Hello,
The Aluminum interacts with the magnetic fields generated by your spinning magnet.  Have you ever done the Lenz's Law test?  Drop a magnet through a tube of copper or aluminum and the magnet will fall slower due to the eddy currents of magnetic flux.  This is what is happening to  your experiment when you bring aluminum into the pulsing magnetic field, some of the flux goes into the aluminum and slows down the rotation.  That is my observation of your work.  Keep it up you inspire me. :-)
A mag will slow when dropped through copper pipe but not an aluminum one. Boyd bushman showed this on YouTube. Am I wrong? Thanks

I think I have seen it both ways, copper or aluminum.  I will go test :-)

I redesigned my Gravity Motor by putting the magnetic reed switches on the rim and controlled by just one magnet.

Thanks for watching.

Looking good. :-)

Lots of great design's here-love the gravity pulse motor idea.
Well due to the storm's we had here and the extra hours at work fixing ship's with hole's in them-not to mention the mess here at home i had to clean up,and also haveing to travel to perth tomorow--im just out of time to put together what i was going to.So this build off i am going to miss-how ever ,i have managed to put together a little something that i would like you all to see.
This is not for the build off,but i believe you may all be interested in it.
I will make and upload a vidio tomorow after i return from our capital city.

yeah the ver 2.0 runs much smoother with the reed switches, good job-do you have a youtube channel element119?
Hello m3sca1! No I don’t have a youtube channel; this is the first time I’ve had a reason to post a video. :D

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome’s I enjoy seeing all the different motor builds and good luck to everyone.

Considering some could not get their motors in due to unforeseen circumstances I would be in favor of extending the build off for a little longer, that is if everyone else agrees.

I would also be in favor of this ;o)   I think it's turned into something a little bigger for some of us.  As I keep tweaking the design I keep having new ideas!  I guess there's no reason to stop working on it post-contest though.

There's some really cool stuff so far!

For what its worth, I have no problem with deadline extension if the group is in favor.
I wasn't planning on collecting the solar panels on the off chance of my winning... I already have 700W on the roof charging 1600Ah of battery from my original SolarNetOne prototype.  Solar is fun, and I think others should have the opportunity to work from a nice stable dipole too:)

Keep up the good work, everyone.  You are building some really cool stuff.

Cheers,
Twinbeard

all, go ahead and make a video of your progress for the comp. (Finished or unfinished) your still in to win my friend!!! but you must post something before midnight today!

BUT!!! Keep Working in it as that's part of it! i knew that some would not get done and that's OK, its about getting some hands on research done for your self and try to use your resources. the time liniment helped with looking what you have around you instead of buying stuff...

All will be judged equally. finished or not. its the effort pout forth that counts!

There will be more Pulse motor build off's and everyone should keep tweaking as I will be too! :)

IT'S ABOUT HAVING FUN!!! :)

and it looks like we are all having fun!

Blessings!

~Russ

I fried my Hall sensor! :(   Any idea if I could use something like a feedback coil to trigger something, almost how a flyback works?
Dope! Lol got to love that one! I know how it is! Friyed about 15 mosfets geting my other motor working! Lol

Yeah, use a pickup coil ( could be an air core) and trigger it like you were with your hall senser!

Just play with it but use a potentiometer between the base and pickup coil and adjust with that.

Just some ideas?

~Russ
