You will find good pricing on many of the items here, or search eBay to find them.
First thing to think about, I would suggest not buying kits without the use of linear bearings, the reason, you will not see the desired resolution on the 8" = 200mm x 8" = 200mm print bed.

1. Electronics:
Here's what you will need :
Arduino-mega-2560, Ramps 1.4 with 5 stepper driver boards, Display board with cables and adapter board, wiring, fan, heated bed, thermistors, sd card and sd card reader, GT2 pulleys and belts and end stops.

2. Ramps 1.4 adapter board, plugs into the Arduino Mega 2560 board
included in electronics kit from above.


3. For the Pololu A4988 stepper drivers, you will need four for the Prusa, Rostock and Kossel Delta, need to make sure you also get the heat sinks and heat dissipation tape for the drivers,

4. SD card and adapter, most are built into the display.

5. Thermistor 100K for temperature sensing, buy at least four.

6. GT2 pulleys and belts:
Do not buy plastic pulley's, as they will crack and break, make sure the belts are long enough for your build.

7. Stepper motors:
You will need 5 for the Prusa and Mendel Max printers, 4 for the Rostock and Kossel Delta 3d printers.

These Dual shaft stepper motors are the ones I bought.

8. Hotend , I built my own completely, I did not buy a kit, although I did buy peek and ptfe rods [expensive], I made all of the parts with the use of my lathe.

9. Endstops your choice of mechanical or hall effect, you'll need three,

10. Motor shaft Z axis couplings, buy one for each side of the Z axis, total of two for the Prusa and Mendel only.

11. Bearings: Buy 10, 608 Skate, sealed if possible and 12, LM8uu linear bearings, for the Prusa, I did grease the linear bearings.

12. Heated bed plate

13. Power supply:
I have found a power supply that will run the printer completely, heated bed, hotend, all electronics and steppers.
Google this, Power Edge 2850:
Specs:
Dell NPS- 700 ABA
Input 110 V AC
12 volts @ 57.3 amps
3.3 volts @ 5.2 amps

14. Other items such as screws, nuts, bolts, 7.98 mm diameter, 8 mm smooth cold rolled steel or equivalent drill rod and 8 mm althread rod, you can purchase locality and will need to know lengths and size of each.

I recommend not using SAE 5/16" x 18 althreaded rods for the lead screws

17. I bought four 25' spools of red, black, green and blue 22 gauge wire to splice into the stepper motors to lengthen their wire, but all wiring except for the power supply is included in electronics kit from above.
I also ran all the stepper motor, and opto wiring in heat shrink tubing, separately of course.

I just found this hall effect end stop called hall-o:

I like the idea of adjusting via potentiometer for the Z axis.  Time to make a parts order.:)

   * generation of support material (optionally, with a second extruder)
   * cooling and fan control
   * ability to read the AMF format


Looks like Slic3r can do supports with dual extruders.:cool:  I'm going to have to look into that.

I didn't think to look there, 13 bucks is pretty cheap.  I'd probably pay that in shipping for components from china.  Just put a order in.  You see that they raised PLA prices?  Kinda sucks.

Yes, I saw the prices, there is such a demand for pla and abs, I think I am going to build a machine to extrude filament. I am mostly using abs now, works well.

Russ, on the hardware kit  you can watch my videos, the sizes are listed or skype me this afternoon, all the rod links are going to be longer than what the wiki says, on the 5/16" nuts and washers just buy 100 of each, the other bolts I can tell you when or if you skype me, or I can email you later with the sizes.

That is an excellent looking machine Tinman!  It looks like he was building a cnc router.  It should be fairly easy to convert it to a "Repstrap".  I would gut out all the old electronics and replace them with an arduino with a RAMPS sheild.  Im pretty sure the stepper motors can be used, just have to sort out which wires are needed.  The smaller motor looks like it would work for a geared extruder too.  Then you just need a bracket for the extruder and a way to heat the bed.  It has all the limit switches for the Y axis, I couldnt see if there is for the X and Z.  
That would be a monster reprap. :cool:  It would print a little slow but it could print your next printer.:D  Once it is running on RepRap firmware, I would also set it up for PCB milling which it would work extreamley well for.

Russ, I would really stick with what I know will work. This is what I have used on my last two builds and they work fine, you can also see the specs on them.

I'm not sure the driver boards will work at 400 steps per revolution, there made for 200 @ 1.8 degrees per step. Also the shaft length is important, longer the better. The one on ebay I think would work. You'll just have to cut a flat on the shaft, to lock the gear in place.
