Interesting Note from Tony Quinn a deep study of DBD barriers

If you were lucky enough to get the chance to follow Russ back in the day.
You will recognize and understand the work he put in to get to
this stage with Meyer’s work..
But for me this was the point of crossroads. He made the processor, and when
it got to testing he was quite shocked at the amount of ozone it was producing. He ran straight into
problems with the corona discharge jumping the gap shorting out..
Instead of stopping and rethinking
the situation he decides to widen the gap by removing the inner negative tube and makes a corona wire
from stainless steel. If you look at the gap between the tube electrodes you will see it is large..
The reason for the large gap is for a dielectric glass tube to be fitted. So instead of making the gap
large enough to stop shorting out..He should have added a glass insulator. This would have done a
number of things to the build..It would have made a short circuit .impossible,,it would have upped
the ozone output ie more molecular bonds would get broken going through the processor,,Circuit resonance
would not be interrupted with short circuit.Circuit resonance would be clean and easy to tune for
maximum efficiency..
.Electron extraction would have been between the inner negative and the positive
screen downstream from the processor. Not from the outer positive that would now have been behind the
glass..With the glass in place, then the dielectric barrier discharge as it’s known will be flooding
the intake gasses with UltraViolet light.
Topped up with the external UV LED's and Red LED’s from behind
the glass..For me this is how the processor works.Russ was so close yet so far away with this build...
I tried to point this out to the guy at the time but no cigar... Have a look for yourselves it’s really
quite clear to see..Russ had the glass on the wrong side of the outer positive lol!
This is the reason for my last post on ozone and LED’s...Did the processor produce atmospheric UV
or close to in the partial vacuum produced by the car intake?
