I think I have com up with an idea to try and build. I just recently got a 3d printer and would like to use it to make my pulse motor but I am still learning 3d modeling so hopefully I can get something made. I dont know if my idea, "The Jumping Jack" Im calling it, can do anything cool or spectacular but if it works I will think it will be cool and will go on my desk right beside last years pulse motor. Good luck to everyone.

this circuit is giving me a headache and i dont want to get hung up on it for too long! i worked this out as a way to use these hall switches, but for some reason the 450v capacitor isnt charging up like its supposed to. instead, the scr is being forced to remain open and (i believe) the collapsing field charge is just dissipating in to the other 2 coils (from 2 identical circuits in parallel from the run battery sharing the same cap and scr dump section).
without a solution ill have to just isolate this section and move on, but i want to fix it so it outputs properly. any ideas?

my apologies everyone...i unknowingly didnt give you the information you needed to solve my problem. im using a tip 102 and tip 122, which are both darlington transistors i believe. when testing, they show a voltage drop not just from B-E and B-C, but E-C as well. when i tore it down and tested the first one was a facepalm moment. its now running properly on some scrap regular NPNs, collecting and dumping just fine  :)
sorry about that!
natsud1: that lettering looks like its coming out nice and clean!

Hallo everyone,

Here;s my setup for this PMBO 2014 which is basically a Flux Gate Generator with my own design here and there...^^

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39Un7-Gsj2c#ws

I'm planning to drive it with a DC motor but as this is a pulsed motor build off i will modify it with a 555 timer to pulsed the DC motor...^^

There's more info about this setup in the comment section below the video...;-)

nice work guys! and gals!

glad you figured it out jeremy. i was looking ot over but had no good ideas lol

here is a sniped of what i have done.. i have alot do do yet lol
alot of mechanical so i may need to scrap the fancy electronics... will see

keep at it! its all looking like good fun! even with the time running out! :)

Here is a sneak peek at my entry this year.  I tried to go with more recycled junk, but ended up 3D printing a lot of the parts to bring it all together.  The rotor has a laminated core between two neo-magnets, encased in printed ABS.  The bearing is an old VCR head mounted to a 3D printed base.  Drive coils will be on the ends of the frankencore, and the rest of the space will be for other things.

The coil that is on the core now will output  the waveform attached below with a spin of the rotor by hand.

im just going to leave this here. this gentleman also came up with the original design for the ring im building, and i have no problem giving him credit for it. he has a ton of creative ideas im sure people can draw from.

@firepinto whaaaat?! thats a crazy waveform! im just getting my hands on a scope recently and i have a ton to learn about transformers and waveforms....but that looks right loopy! love it

Hi all. I was hoping someone could help me. I am using a hall effect sensor that outputs a "ground signal" wich goes to the base of a small pnp transistor which in turn goes to my 2n3055 power transistor but I keep blowing the smaller transistor and Im not sure why I have tried a 2n3906 and s9015 transistors but since I don't know much about electronics I'm not sure what to do to fix the problem. I have it wired up correctly and it works but I think I'm pulling too much from the small transistor and blowing it.  So my question(s) is can someone give me a simple schematic for a hall effect sensor to a PNP transistor to a NPN with correct resistors values/anything else or If its a case of needing a better pnp transistor with higher specs? I have not really figured out how to tell what information I need from the datasheets so part numbers would be helpful. Sorry for the dumb question but this simple little problem has been kicking my but for a few days. When I can get it to work it doesnt seem to turn the coils on fully or the transistor burns out shortly and I'm getting really sick of unsoldering, resoldering, and re-heat shrinking transistors..... Thanks Guys

Hi natsud1,
I use a similar circuit(with some mods) to drive some of my PM's but i do have a 10K resistor on the collector of the small transistor so it doesn't draw to much and in my case it's only there to activate my N-channel Mosfet... :D
And instead of soldering use european terminal connectors...i never solder much but use those connectors only...makes changing and replacing components much easier... ;)
Hope this help you out a bit... :)
