Well, since John is working on neutralizing radioactivity, another thing he might want to experiment with is neutralizing (or triggering) explosives.

Every time there's a war somewhere, there ends up being thousands of mines left in the ground, killing and maiming to this very day. Wouldn't it be nice if he could point one of his ray guns at a field and either explode them all (after appropriate evacuation)? -OR- Render them harmless by "transmutating" the explosive in them into, say, chocolate pudding, or flowers, or something else nice?

Wouldn't that be handy? Not only after the fact, but during a war, too. That would be great to be able to defeat them as fast as they are laid. It would pretty much render all use of mines useless. Not only that, but it would allow an army who laid them to "clean up their mess" after it's all over.

OTOH, being able to detonate explosives at a distance could also be abused big time. Just point it at a cop and all his bullits go bang! *Ooops!*:D

Just a thought.

You do have some wild ideas there.

Not that I don't like them, a remote explosives trigger device sure would draw alot of attention if nothing else, perhaps
though for all the wrong reasons.
You bet it would be misused, opposing armies would use it against eachother, terrorists would use it against the whole
wide World.........disaster waiting in the wings.

Stick to vacuum cleaner Tesla coils instead, I'd gladly build that
