Hello.
I also have a suggestion to add on the forum..
"Open Source Repair Guides"
Where we can post our successfully repairs how to. And also ask for help on how to repair different things.

To understand electronics better it is a good idea to know how to repair damaged circuit boards. how to locate a damaged components..
I think most of people here already know how to do it so this forum can really help a lot of people getting in to electronics.

Since i joined here i have been busy studying electronics on my own just by using internet as my teacher.
It is the electronics that really gets over my head sometimes but i have done a lot of progress. i have managed to repair one xbox 360, one lcd tv, and two lcd monitors and some other things.
i have also made one bench power supply from an old computer power supply.

But i am really stuck now trying to repair a active subwoofer with some problem in the amplifier circuit.. and i need some help to find the best way to find the problem.

i am taking out components one by one and testing with multimeter and capacitance meters.. but is it not any better approach?

reverse engineering will teach a lot how things work.

When the open source repair is up i will post my repairs and questions there.

1. Check the supply rails
2. Check the clock(s)
3. Inspect the soldering
4. Look for burnt parts
5. Measure the power transistors to see if they look reasonable
6. Trace the signal to where it stops, then figure out why

I did it for over 40 years. It's paint by numbers.
