PMBO 2020 Rules


Build a motor that runs on pulses of any energy source or combination of energy sources. (chemical, electrical, radiant, mechanical, thermal and nuclear)

If you're entering the contest you're encouraged to Document your process of building the motor and post on the forum as you build.  ( upload to youtube / media platform and post link)

Entry video can be any length, also ½ way can be any length.
Final video entry must be no more than 3 min. (not including PMBO2020 intro. )

The competition will last from November 1st to December 31st

*The winner will be determined by a public poll that everyone can vote on.

There are two competition classes:

Rules for Open class:
Open class is for anyone who want to to join in and build
Prizes:(TBD)
1st : 50$ credit to diadon store.
2st : 20$ credit to diadon store.
3rd : honorable mention

You encouraged post your progress at least at the beginning of your build and ½ way through in the time frame allotted.


Rules for Advanced Class:
To enter, a donation of $10 must be made to the prize pool

Prizes:(TBD)  pot starts at 200$
1st  60% of pot
2st  25 % of pot
3rd 15% of pot

Add your own  control element for self achievement EX. speed or angle .
You must post your progress at least at the beginning of your build and ½ way through in the time frame allotted.

Looking forward (just ordered some magnets.
One question:

can it be edited? or does it have to be recorded in "one take" so there can be no manipulation?
It is clear that for the half time videos it does not matter, but the question concerns the final 3 minute one.

It can be edited.  I think the time limit is there to make judging easier...

Awesome, just ordered some parts, revising my schematic now, hopefully 2 months is enough time to debug and tune my PMBO.

we can understand the electron bounce and wire skin capacitance, i think there is some find stuff to be built
