I have to say that tuning coils or LC-circuits to resonance is something that always escapes me. I have read tons of articles and guides from numerous people and it is still trial and error every time :(
Should I put the primary coil outside the secondary or not? How much tuning do I actually need? Do my coils need to be wrapped over an accordion so I can adjust the spacing between turns?
Some people say that you only need even multiples (x times primary) on the secondary and you will be fine. I find that this is not correct.
This guide should start with coarse tuning like if I am limited by my cap capacitance, then I should use heavy gauge wire and use the turn radius and coil length to compensate this or something like that. Then when you actually got it built the fine tuning should be done with...what?
Or do I build my prim coil first and then that will show me what kinda secondary I need?
