The Spirit in the Realm of Plants

Although still only in small circles, this general presupposition of the spiritual content of the world is made rather frequently. Even those who speak of the spirit in objects, however, usually remain with speaking about the spirit in general, i.e., they speak about the existence of spiritual weaving, of spiritual life lying at the basis of the mineral, plant, and animal realms, etc. To enter into the means by which the spirit individualizes itself for us, how it manifests itself particularly in this or that form of existence, is not yet given much thought in the wider circles of our educated contemporaries. Offense is usually taken to those who speak not only of the spirit generally but of its particular forms, its particular ways, how it makes itself felt behind this or that phenomenon. Nevertheless, in our spiritual science, we should not speak about the spirit in the vague and general way indicated today; rather, we should speak in such a way that we recognize how the spirit weaves behind the mineral or plant existence, how it is active in the animal and human existence. Our task today is to say some thing about the nature of the spirit in the realm of plants.

When I started my FE journey I was obsessed with words, definitions and semantics. Then as I progressed I started using numbers, equations and mathematics. When language and numbers failed to fully describe the true nature of the natural world I was ultimately left with something resembling hieroglyphics to describe concepts having discrete geometric relationships and meanings.

It starts to make sense when one considers that many supposedly advanced civilizations never used language or numbers to convey there message. The depiction of the concept was in itself the all encompassing message and words and numbers are primitive by comparison. However this only applies so long as there is mutual understanding of these advanced concepts between the parties... hence our problem.

It may seem harmless to think only automatic thoughts of mineral, plant and animal and man; to-day they are merely thought but should this continue until the re-union of the Moon the result will be chaos. Full humanity must be drawn into the intellect. Incorrect and unreal thoughts will receive at a blow the real truth at the re-union of the Moon. These materialistic thoughts will then bring forth a terrible race of automatic beings who stand in their nature between the plant and mineral kingdoms. They will be endowed with great power of intellect and understanding and will enclose the earth in a kind of net or spiders web. They will enclose what man imagines without Spiritual Science. (Machinery is really thought poured into mineral) All modern unreal thoughts will become endowed with being. As the earth to-day is enclosed in an atmosphere, these mineral plant — like spiders, terribly evil, weaving into each other, will cover the Earth like gnats in the air.

Advanced man will direct his body from outside like the group-souls. To understand the plant, thought must be raised to artistic comprehension, artistic concepts. A real impulse of will is needed to fructify thought.

Only man himself must beware lest he slide downward with it.

In the age when there was not yet a technical industry independent of true Nature, man found the Spirit within his view of Nature. But the technical processes, emancipating themselves from Nature, caused him to stare more and more fixedly at the mechanical-material, which now became for him the really scientific realm. In this mechanical-material domain, all the Divine-Spiritual Being connected with the origin of human evolution, is completely absent. The purely Ahrimanic dominates this sphere.

In the Science of the Spirit, we now create another sphere in which there is no Ahrimanic element. It is just by receiving in Knowledge this spirituality to which the Ahrimanic powers have no access, that man is strengthened to confront Ahriman within the world."
