Can someone print a few things for me?
« on June 22nd, 2017, 08:30 PM »
I'm looking to get a few models printed, I can pay for them and the shipping if need be, I'm in New Jersey.

Need 4 gears printed, one with a 4 inch pitch diameter and 48 teeth; and also 3 with 1 inch pitch diameter and 12 teeth.

I mostly just need the 4 inch gear printed, the rest I can probably get myself...

This is mostly what I need.... https://www.mcmaster.com/#60455k51/=1876t72 but its pretty much about 80 bucks wherever I look and it is only for experimental purposes and does not need to be highly precise, the 3 small gears should be cheap enough to buy. I also need the 4 inch gear in plastic, I kind of figured 3d printing them would be cheaper than getting a precision one, but I really don't know as I've never had experience with 3d printed objects... this is what I'm trying to make...

It doesn't have to be extremely precise, but I need the outside gears to rotate approx 4 times every time the inside one rotates once...

I guess I'm at a point where I'm not sure blowing money on this is worth it because it might not even work plus I'd still need to buy mounted bearings which aren't exactly cheap either... or just mount the gears on something else.

Hey Apoc4lypse,
I can pick it up perhaps and it easy enough with McMaster. Let me look over the CAD design and pricing and I will give you a quote. I am in Oregon but at least its not across international borders so should be cheaper. You want the smaller or larger version?

I mostly need the large one, but the large one and 3 of the smaller one would be better.

I can print them all for you and I will give you a quote. Maybe 10$ for my time and 10$ to ship them right? So maybe 20$ total, does that sound reasonable to you?

yeah that works; do you have paypal? They just need to be the right size so the larger gear rotates once where the smaller ones rotate 4 times, and the smaller gears need to have a pitch diameter of 1 inch.

Hey Apoch,

Here is the progress so far for the slecs you want. Always some snags along the way, so  I will just send you all the prints I make. I will live stream your next one for you. I have to switch to the blue filament so I hope color isn't important cuz that's all I have. That's kind of why I'm doing this, so I can afford some more filament.
