What I find disturbing though is there are forces in this Universe I do not want to be connected to.  And even more disconcerting is having those forces connected to me.

I agree.
I wouldn't want to be connected to Dick Cheney, Bush, Trump, Putin, Kim Jong, just to mention a few.
