This is way off topic!

Hi guys,
happy Easter to everyone of you, nobody excluded, and happy Resurrection to all Christians!
What I would like to post here is way off topic (because it has nothing to do with energy, but it is related to freely circulating information): I would like to post a few chapters from the 1965 book "Our Vietnam nightmare" by Pulitzer prize winner Marguerite Higgins.
It's about the early period of the Vietnam war. The book is no longer in print, and there are even few used ones around (I got my used copy from Amazon). It tells a different story from the mainstream version (which you find, for example, on Wikipedia) of the Vietnam war. The author, journalist Marguerite Higgins, was working as a news reporter from Vietnam, so what she wrote is what she saw with her own eyes. She died not long after the book was published. Unfortunately, the book is still under copyright. I believe, however, that the publication of some chapters of the book (not the whole book) is allowed under the "fair use" rule of the copyright law, for commentary and criticism, even more so because the book is no longer available to the wide public.
So I am asking permission to post it here; if who's in charge of this forum allows me, I will post a few chapters, otherwise I won't publish anything.
So I'll be waiting for an answer... In the meantime, my thanks and greetings to you all!

Sounds real interesting.  I sure would like to read the whole thing.

My father missed being drafted into Vietnam three times and by the third time he started to learn what it was really all about.  It was a matter of right place, right time or I wouldn't even be here.

Hellstorm is another book about WW II that most have never heard and few if any still alive truly understand.

Hold that thought for just a little while, let the big bossman see this first, I've already noted this for him so he should be around shortly and speak his piece about this

Thanks, Russ!
I've been thinking about whether or not it would be wise to publish some chapters from the book. I've searched the records of the US copyright office (http://www.copyright.gov/records/ ) and found that the copyright for the book was renewed in 1993 and will expire after another 67 years, no sooner than December 31st, 2060... not just around the corner. The copyright duration rules can be found here: www.copyright.gov/title17/92chap3.html , while fair use of copyrighted material is treated here: www.copyright.gov/title17/92chap1.html#107
In my particular case, there are some conditions that would weigh the decision towards fair use: non profit use, publishing only part and not the whole book, the fact that there would be no damage to the book's market (because the book is no longer in print).
Unfortunately, whether the publication is fair use or not cannot be predicted for sure, the final decision is taken by the court, if a copyright infringement lawsuit is filed.
So posting parts of the book here could potentially cause trouble to this forum, which I obviously don't want to do.
Well, conclusion? I guess I'll just post a link here if and when I find a space of my own to host the chapters of the book. In the meantime, if any of you guys are interested, get a used copy of the book from Amazon, I really recommend it. Sorry that I made so much noise for nothing...
Thanks to all, see you back ON TOPIC.
