Take note of the amperage between single windings in the output coil.  Clearly this isn't all coming from the neon sign transformer.

Was it you who once suggested an on board mythbuster section Matt?
Maybe it would be a good idea for the initiated to confirm or bust selected builds at hand found here and there.
To be fair the active power consumption from the wall outlet should be measured and then be compared with the active output power to the lamps and COP's lower than 1 means bust whilst those greater than 1 = confirmed.
Should it be confirmed then the discussion at hand should also be directed towards finding plausible explanations as to where this extra energy is coming from causing the COP > 1.

This seems to be a fairly easy build so it should qualify as a mythbusting project.
