it appears he's invented some new innovation in  hyroponics,  link:

http://www.naturalnews.com/048049_food_revolution_open_source_Health_Ranger_inventions.htmll

mentions a  'high quality filament' used, so it sounds like something solar, maybe connected to colloidals
making. This would make sense because he says you can use any type of water and no soil, so my guess
is that he's using a solar heated system of creating colloidal mineral water from some sort of filament,
which probably also serves to heat the water.
interesting , guess we'll know soon

When the grocery store shelves are empty, this amazing Food Rising invention will keep you well fed and nourished

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger
Sunday, December 21, 2014

(NaturalNews) I'm always amazed at how many sheeple blindly believe food will magically appear on grocery store shelves day after day, from now to eternity. The magnificent retail presentation of food abundance at retail stores belies the fact that what you see on the shelf is nearly the entire inventory available at that store. Just-in-time delivery logistics means new trucks full of food and produce arrive mere hours before the shelves are restocked. There's no "depth" to the inventory -- a fact made abundantly obvious in the hours leading up to an approaching hurricane or natural disaster where store shelves are stripped bare.

Just-in-time food deliveries are completely dependent on all these things functioning smoothly in society:

1) FINANCIAL TRANSACTIONS: Financial transactions with banks are necessary to process payments for received goods and transportation fees. If the transactions can't go through, deliveries can't be made.

2) FUEL SUPPLIES: If fuel isn't readily available, the trucks don't roll. And fuel supplies depend on the functioning of oil refineries which, of course, run on electricity from the power grid.

3) POWER GRID: Without the power grid online and functioning, trucking companies can't function because they're all run by computer. Stores also can't stay open to receive goods because they can't log in the received inventory via computer.

4) SOCIAL STABILITY: Trucks can't deliver groceries to stores that are on fire or stranded in the middle of Riotsville USA. No trucker will risk his life just to deliver another thousand boxes of Cheese Nips for 48 cents a mile.

All it takes is any one of these crashing down to result in grocery store shelves being stripped bare in mere hours. You can also see that happening from sudden spikes in demand such as the pre-hurricane store rushes and even the post-Fukushima store shelf wipeouts we witnessed in Japan.

When the store shelves are empty, how will you feed yourself and your family?
Many people are buying heirloom garden seeds in anticipation of a coming food crisis. This is a very important first step, yet most people vastly underestimate the physical difficulty of growing food in soil.

Those who have never gardened in soil have little concept of the hard work involved. Beyond the physical demands, gardening in soil has high caloric demands. And for many garden-grown foods, you'll use more calories growing them than those foods deliver. (Nearly all green vegetables, for example, take more calories to grow than they provide.)

Gardening in soil also uses huge amounts of water, and most people have no real plan in place for acquiring the vast quantities of water they'll need to grow food in open soil. Praying for rain -- especially if you live in the American Southwest -- is a recipe for dying of starvation.

Growing food in hydroponics and aquaponics systems is very viable, but only if you are highly technical and have a relatively large amount of money to spend up front. I have extensively studied an even constructed hydroponic and aquaponic systems, and what I've learned in this is that they tend to be very complex... perhaps too complex for most people to casually operate.

All hydroponic and aquaponic systems depend on a network of circulation pumps, oxygen diffusers and usually high-tech nutrient monitoring components. While these systems are very good for growing large quantities of food if you can devote the time needed to master their technologies, what people have told me over and over again is that hydroponic and aquaponic system seem "too intimidating" and too complex for everyday people to learn and master. I'm still a proponent of these systems for lots of reasons, but when the power grid goes down, they don't operate at all unless you have your own self-contained power systems (solar panels, generators, wind turbines, etc.).

Watch out for false claims on storable food supplies
As a backup strategy for food preparedness, many people are buying large quantities of storable food. This is a very viable and important strategy, but the reality is that all stored food eventually runs out.

Even if you store 1-2 years of food (as more and more people are doing, believe it or not), that food will run out more quickly than you think, especially when your friends and family members show up starving, soon after remembering you are a "prepper" and therefore have the supplies to feed everybody. (Yes, they called you crazy until they needed your food, and suddenly you're their best friend...funny how that works.)

The other problem with storable food -- and this is a huge problem in the industry -- is that many storable food companies vastly exaggerate the number of meals they are providing. It's common for so-called "one year" packages to really only provide something like 1600 to 1800 calories a day. Given that most Americans today are really eating closer to 3000 calories a day, the so-called "one year" food packages are only going to last them six or seven months unless they discipline themselves to endure severe calorie restrictions. (Unlikely.)

Also, most of the lower-cost storable food is all genetically modified and loaded with MSG, yeast extract and other chemicals. Yuck!

Home food production made ridiculously easy
To help address these problems, I've invented a series of objects and mechanisms that can grow large quantities of food without using electricity, pumps or soil.

Many of the parts for this system -- but not all of them -- can be 3D printed using almost any common 3D printer that has a 6" build height at supports PET-based filaments. All the 3D printable files will be released via open source in February, 2015 at the new website www.FoodRising.org

This invention will allow almost anyone to:

• Grow food at remarkably little expense (pennies on the dollar compared to store-bought foods).

• Produce over 200% more food in the same space compared to square foot soil gardening.

• Grow food with over 500% higher mineral nutrition than store-bought foods.

• Produce your own high-potency natural medicines including anti-cancer medicine, right at home, for virtually free.

• Create your own high-potency plant-based mineral supplements which can be easily dried and stored for later use in capsules or powders.

• Grow high-calorie-producing ROOT vegetables, including potatoes, carrots and beets, using variations of this system.

• REMOVE all toxic heavy metals from your water source. One of the top innovations in this system is a 3D printable device that removes heavy metals from water.

• The system requires NO electricity. There are NO power cords. There are NO pumps. One of my design requirements was that this system would work in a third-world country or following an EMP attack that destroyed the power grid.

• As a result, the entire system is 100% EMP-proof and will continue to operate even following a power grid failure or an outbreak of war. Yes, the enemy can cut off your power, but they can't stop your food supply if you're using this system.

• The entire system is being released open source under a license similar to Creative Commons, where you are free to use the 3D printable files as long as you provide attribution to the original inventor (the Health Ranger).

• There are some parts required for the system which cannot be 3D printed. You will have to acquire those through other means. I have worked very hard to keep these additional parts incredibly simple and readily available. For example, the two most important parts you need to source are: 1) Paper clips. 2) Pencil erasers. (The common erasers on the ends of wooden pencils, which are almost exactly 6.7mm in diameter.) You probably need to stock up on some wooden pencils anyway, so by buying wooden pencils, you're also getting the erasers you'll need for this project.

You will need sunlight and water
You will also need a source of light for some -- but not all -- of the food plants you wish to grow. If you wish to grow food indoors, you will obviously need to provide a light source which requires electricity.

You will also need water. This can be rain water, well water, river water, pond water... you name it. The good news is this system uses about 1/20th the water of soil gardening. So your need for water is drastically reduced. You can even clean the water of toxic chemicals and heavy metals using one of the objects I'll be releasing on www.FoodRising.org

As long as you have a source of light and a source of water, you can use this system to grow massive quantities of food, medicine and mineral supplements with very little effort and very little cost.

Join the email announcement list now at www.FoodRising.org to be alerted when the files get posted.

This system can help keep you alive in a crisis that might otherwise force you into starvation
In an economic collapse, an outbreak of war, social chaos or other crisis scenario, many people will starve for lack of food. The grocery store shelves will be quickly emptied, and because most people have not stored any food, they will have no means to procure it other than waiting around for FEMA to show up.

But the larger the crisis, the lower the chances of government being able to help (even if they really wanted to). In a nationwide crisis such as an economic collapse, you will likely be entirely on your own for some period of time.

During this time, you can be growing your own food, medicine and nutritional supplements using the Food Rising inventions. Obviously, you will need electricity, a computer and a 3D printer to print these objects, but you can also download them and print them in advance, storing the parts in anticipation of a possible crisis.

These parts are incredibly cheap to print out. And with low-cost extruders such as the Protocycler coming online that recycle plastic bottles into usable filament -- you'll be able to make your own filament out of plastic water bottles and milk jugs (among other items). Another affordable extruder already on the market is The Filastruder.

Imagine: You will be able to literally harvest plastic trash from landfills and turn it into non-electric food production systems. How's that for way beyond cool?

It's also a pretty dang good business idea for a post-collapse economy. Pay some scavengers to bring you plastic trash, and you can turn it into high-value objects that you can barter for food, ammo or even gold. I'll be writing more about this idea in an upcoming article.

With these Food Rising inventions, you'll also have a starter food supply in as little as FIVE days, followed by abundant greens in about 20 days. By planning ahead with potatoes, root vegetables and fruits (like strawberries), you can experience real food abundance month after month, all at extremely low cost and with very little effort (and no electricity, remember). There's no weeding, either. You don't even need a rake or hoe. Come to think of it, you don't even need any dirt.

Join the email announcement list now at www.FoodRising.org to be kept informed of all this. The announcements begin in February of 2015, with new open source object releases scheduled throughout the year.

The Food Rising revolution begins in just a few weeks!

Health Ranger unveils Food Rising Mini-Farm Grow Box grow system in new video
Sunday, February y 22, 2015

(NaturalNews) Yesterday I unveiled the Food Rising Mini-Farm Grow Box in an exclusive video broadcast at the Health Freedom Expo in Naples, FL.

You can now watch that full video here (see links below).

The Food Rising Mini-Farm Grow Box breakthrough
The Food Rising Mini-Farm Grow Box (www.FoodRising.org) is a non-electric, open-source food production system that can be easily constructed using common tools and parts.

The system is:
* 100% EMP-proof, using no circuit boards.
* 100% non-electric. Requires no electricity whatsoever.
* Key parts needed for the system can be easily scavenged almost anywhere (a paper clip, a pencil eraser, etc.).
* Eliminates weeding.
* Grows food in less than half the space of soil agriculture.
* Grows food at waist height; eliminating bending over.
* Uses about 1/20 the water of conventional soil agriculture.
* Produces highly nutritious food with higher mineral density.
* Can grow vegetables, fruits, herbs and even root vegetables (with an adaptation to be released later).

Credit for the teaching of "non-circulating hydroponics" belongs to Professor B. Kratky at the University of Hawaii, Hilo. His academic paper describing this technology is linked at the home page of FoodRising.org.

Health Ranger invents 3D printable components that make the system work
The key component of the system is the self-watering float valve, and to make this sytem easy to make yourself, I designed a 3D printable automatic water-leveling float valve designed around common parts that can be easily scavenged or acquired:

* A pencil eraser
* A paper clip
* A garden hose washer
* A common vitamin bottle

Using almost any 3D printer (and the correct filament, which is called "t-glase"), any person can print their own self-watering float valve and use it to grow their own food with very little effort and at very little cost.

In the following video, I unveil the Food Rising Mini-Farm Grow Box. More detailed videos are coming soon.

good stuff!

I admire your altruism.

I had a quick look at the website and I have a few questions;

1) what prevents unwanted organisms breeding in the water?
e.g. algae, mosquitoes etc.

2) to avoid hydro-gardens Colorado (or Monsanto for example) monopolising the nutrients market
can you develop/publish a decentralised recipe?
For ultra low-tech/third-world the water levels could be maintained manually (watering can etc.)
but the key component seems to be the nutrient mixtures.

3) if we all did this,
would water treatment plants be able to deal with all of the excess nutrients?

he appears to have found a way around the need to oxygenate or circulate the water with pumps to keep
the water clean. He calls it 'root differentiation' or something like that, it seems to involve having the top
roots exposed to the air, which enables the plant to combat decay naturally and oxygenate the system
without pumps.  There is probably some secret to the nutrient additives somehow helping keep things
clean He has yet to unveil the entire system and how it works and the nutrients etc.

Grow your own turmeric! Health Ranger to teach home turmeric production with modified Food Rising grow box

Learn more: http://www.naturalnews.com/049123_grow_turmeric_garden_containers_Food_Rising_box.html#ixzz3VVf1TcTG

Wednesday, March 25, 2015
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger

(NaturalNews) One of my goals this year is to teach you how to grow your own turmeric using the Food Rising Mini-Farm Grow Box system.

It's easier than you think, and I have a special adapter part being designed right now that will convert the grow box into something called a "wicking bed" which allows you to grow ginger, turmeric, garlic, onions, potatoes, beets and other root vegetables. (You'll be able to download the part file for free and print it on any 3D printer, or purchase it already printed.)

Check out this YouTube video which features a woman showing you how to grow your own turmeric in containers. This is essentially what I'm going to replicate with a special adaptation of the grow box.

As you know, our Natural News Store sells an organic turmeric tincture in both alcohol and glycerin formulations. In a way you might find surprising, I'm hoping to vastly reduce our own turmeric sales by teaching our readers to grow their own turmeric at home, for mere pennies.

Once you grow your own, you can slice off a very small piece of turmeric and blend it into any smoothie to achieve a daily "turmeric intake" that provides extraordinary health benefits from consuming fresh, living turmeric.

Growing your own turmeric is FAR better than buying it
As I've always said, growing your own medicine is the best way to get it. Tinctures, supplements and superfood powders are only a second best option. The true natural health enthusiast has a living garden from which she harvests and consumes living medicinal plants each day.

So stay tuned to www.FoodRising.org for upcoming instructions on how to build your own "wicking bed" grow box that's automatically self-watering. You'll be able to use this to grow your own turmeric, ginger and other medicinal roots.

In the mean time, we have a special on our turmeric tinctures. These tinctures are a convenient way to consume this "miracle spice" that offers extraordinary health support. Right now, the Natural News Store is giving away a free bottle of Clean Chlorella when you purchase any three turmeric tincture bottles. See details at this page. The offer is good through April 10, no discount code necessary.

Turmeric prices set to rise as demand steadily grows
This article from FinancialExpress.com explains that turmeric prices are expected to rise (like everything else, right?). Apparently, very high demand is causing turmeric to be in relatively short supply.

What's happening is that countries like China are waking up to natural health and medicinal nutrition. Last year, China raided the world supply of maca, buying up virtually all the maca in South America as word about the miracle of maca spread across mainland China.

If the Chinese population goes crazy over turmeric, you can expect there to be sustained shortages. Even we might not be able to source it, and prices will be much higher either way.

This is why I urge you to seriously consider either building or buying a Food Rising Mini-Farm Grow Box. You can buy them pre-made right now at www.SupplySource.com or you can make your own using the instructional DIY videos I posted at www.FoodRising.org

Using this system, you'll be able to grow hundreds of dollars' worth of turmeric nutrients in just one grow box. Seriously: If you bought those same turmeric nutrients at retail in the form of tinctures, it would cost you a pretty penny. But growing them yourself is surprisingly cheap, and you can keep growing as much as you want for almost no money at all.

My goal is to stop selling turmeric as YOU start growing it yourself!
I've been questioned by some people who keep wondering why I insist on teaching people to grow their own products and thereby put our own store out of business. They just don't get it: I'm far more interested in empowering YOU with the ability to grow your own medicine than selling supplements. There is no vitamin, no superfood and no supplement in the world that's more powerful than something you grow in your own back yard.

So yes, buy it for now if you don't have it growing, but learn to grow your own! That's how the Food Rising Revolution really takes shape: from people learning how to grow their own food and medicine while not needing to purchase such things at retail. There's absolutely no reason why you can't be growing your own food, medicine and mineral supplements right now. It's easier than you think, thanks to the Food Rising Mini-Farm Grow Box.

Besides, how are you going to get your turmeric when the financial crash hits hard? At that point, you might not even be able to afford food or medicine. You'd be smart to have them already growing and ready to harvest when that day comes...

Mike Adams explains how Food Rising empowers individuals in must-see interview

http://www.naturalnews.com/049493_Food_Rising_Mini-Farm_Grow_Box_Mike_Adams_empowerment.html#ixzz3YQnxGIkx

NaturalNews) The true volatility of many modern conveniences like cheap, mass-produced food and plentiful fossil fuels likely won't become apparent until a major disaster occurs that shuts the entire system down in an instant. But do you really want to count yourself among the unprepared masses when grocery store shelves are suddenly empty, or when shipping trucks delivering products from China are no longer running?

In a recent eye-opening interview with Press for Truth's Dan Dicks, Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, discusses the importance of preparing now for what many consider to be a matter of when rather than if -- a societal collapse of epic proportions. Crucial to you and your family's survival will be knowing how to grow food at home, as well as procuring the tools and skills necessary to maintain a decentralized, self-survival system of sustenance.

"Food is crucial," says Adams. "You can't be free if you can't feed yourself first."

Food Rising Mini-Farm Grow Boxes use the revolutionary power of 3D printing to offer decentralized food production solutions
Discussing his revolutionary new Food Rising Mini-Farm Grow Box system, Adams explains how this free, off-the-grid food production paradigm represents a practical and affordable solution to the many inherent problems of the existing factory food model. Using Food Rising Mini-Farm Grow Boxes, individuals will now be able to manufacture and print, using advanced 3-D printing technology, their own mini-farms at home that require no electricity, no expensive pumps and, most importantly, no reliance on the system for food.

"I wanted to really take action to offer solutions to people that were practical, that were hands on, that could empower them with food freedom and disease prevention, allowing them to grow their own food and their own medicine," explains Adams about the system. "I designed it around parts that you can 3D print on your own 3D printer, which is the industrial revolution of our modern age... you can download the parts for free, you can print them yourself, you can make these grow systems yourself."

Watch the full interview here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVKCQZIpH5Q#t=641

Food Rising Mini-Farm Grow Boxes require no electricity, are non-circulating and contain no complex parts
The key to the Food Rising Mini-Farm Grow Box system is a unique, non-circulating, non-electric design that requires no complex parts, no pumps and no circuit boards. Food Rising Mini-Farm Grow Boxes are also 100% EMP proof, meaning they won't fail in the event of a large electromagnetic pulse. Food Rising Mini-Farm Grow Boxes are capable of growing food following a nuclear attack or a "grid-down" scenario and are a perfect solution for independent food production in the wake of a large-scale economic collapse.

As far as what the systems are capable of growing, Adams says everything from strawberries and spinach to lettuce and melons can be grown in the easy-to-produce and simple-to-operate grow boxes. There's also an adaptation that turns the box into what's known as a "wicking box," which wicks water into a special coconut coir grow medium capable of growing denser produce like potatoes, which are higher in calories and superior for survival.

"I believe in empowering grassroots activists and freedom lovers who believe in being more self-reliant, being more off-the-grid, being more individual empowered, and that's what this project is all about," says Adams.

"You can grow medicines such as garlic and ginger which are highly medicinal. Right now I'm even starting to grow my own turmeric medicine roots in these systems so I can produce my own raw, fresh, living turmeric anti-inflammatory medicine from food. Almost anything you can grow in a garden, vegetable or fruit type of format you can grow in these boxes."

Food Rising Mini-Farm Grow Box plans are available for FREE to anyone!
The best part about Food Rising Mini-Farm Grow Boxes is that the plans for building them have been made available for FREE to anyone who wants them. Pre-made boxes are also available, but the system isn't about raking in profits -- it's about teaching the world to grow food apart from the system, which is the epitome of food freedom and liberty.

"There has been an ongoing effort to try to criminalize home food production in America, so I imagine that this project will, of course, step on some toes of those Orwellian, power-hungry fascists, socialists and communists who are trying to destroy America," emphasizes Adams.

"But screw them -- you have a right to grow food, you have a right to teach your children how to grow food, you have a right to save seeds, you have a right to feed yourself using free sunlight energy and the miracles of mother nature that are found in the seed."
