I've kinda grown used to the idea that it was Tesla who invented the polyphase induction motor, but my friend Google has indeed pointed me to a few facts revealing the works of the good Italian professor Galileo Ferraris which strongly suggests that he (Ferraris) full well could be considered to be a strong contender to the title "the one who invented the World's first polyphase induction motor".

By the looks of it mr. Westinghouse had a great (financial) interest in proving that it in fact was Tesla who first invented the polyphase induction motor, so as it happened there were a few trials and lawsuits in which this historical fact had to be proven and the outcome of some of these trials weren't necessarily in favour for Westinghouse et al (I.E Tesla).

Quite a mess this whole thing as a matter of fact.

What's right is right though, so it would be nice to actually see actual proof as to who gets the honour to be the one who officially and rightfully should be recognised as the first original inventor of the polyphase induction motor, with the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth or any other BS.
