Yes, I think this is the one i'm going with, just have to figure out how he is making the rod pop up after the leveling sequence.

jeff, there is a another magnet that pulls the rod up, so you just need to set it so when it starts to print its at that fine line and pulls it up. 

could add an extra command but its not needed relay if its set correctly. 

just don't forget to pull it back down for the next print...

just maid this yesterday,

rod is from a dvd / dc drive... almost everyone i have ever taken apart has the same size rod... polished and hardened...

 

Ok, I really didn't see the upper magnet, that explains it. Looking good Russ, if you find a cheap hall-o or where to buy all the parts let me know, if I build them, I will build more than four. I'll just need to find magnets for them all. I did find some magnets in the laser part of a DVD drive, I have four more to junk out, we'll see what we can find. :D

i tried round disk and square.

i think round work best... they don't scrape the sides as bad if at all to hang up like the square one tried to do... although i need to oil a bit also...

I saw another setup that uses a solinoid to push the pin down, I will have to look for it, don't remember where it was.

Russ I just found the hall effect gadget on eBay, it's not the same as the Hall-o but it should work, It's $2.00, adjustable as well.

Does this feature totally eliminate having to level the bed?  Seems like you should still be close to start.

That seems like a great deal.  Cheap enough to make me want to give up making these home made opto end stops to work.  lol

Nate i think this is only for the first layer. ( or it use to be) so you will need to be close but this takes all those small small error out of the equation on that first pass...
