Hmmmm... Interesting....
What we really need is a magnetic diode. Something that would allow dielectric voidance, but disallow dielectric counter-voidance. With something like this, one could create what effectively would be a monopole permanent magnet. And with that, building a permanent magnet motor would be child's play.
I still think Bismuth is the key to magnetic shielding.
