High Temp Extruder Hot End

So id like to start printing in other filaments like Nylon.  I was originally looking at the all metal Prusa Nozzle, but its always out of stock and seems to only come in a 3mm by 0.4mm size.  I found this E3D-v6 that might be better, but still comes with a 0.4mm nozzle:

Looks like you can order a separate 0.25 mm nozzle for $12.99 + $5.50.

Hey Nate! I use the v5's with thermocouples. They work very well. I was going to try printing with delrin but I bought the 1/8" rods from McMaster and they are just a tad too big and I don't want to modify my E3D's ;) I'm messing around with polyurethane right now (I'm printing bellows for my machine) but when I get the heated chamber done, I'm going to see what I can print in polycarbonate. In my experience nylon is really susceptible to humidity and doesn't like inconsistant cooling. I had to print it with a box fan pointed next to the print with just a gentle breeze. One of my Sons walked between the fan and the printer and it caused the print to be distorted. In THIS VIDEO , you can see two rings in the part that I was printing that were caused by drafts  I also tried printing a Wade's extruder with nylon and wow! THAT was the worst warpage I've ever seen. Good luck with the nylon and I'm sure you'll enjoy your E3D hotends.

The printer looks great!  Youtube must be hiding those videos from me, I'm subscribed but don't remember them.  Yeah I think im going to be an E3D, I need to start getting some funds first though.  lol

Actually that video was taken when the machine had a home built extruder. I was only running the temp at 260C. I've found that if I subscribe to a channel on the tube it doesn't automatically set me up to receive updates for uploads. Maybe that's what happened. :-/ Are you any closer to getting that website done that you were talking about?

No, not really :-/ I think I took on too many things this summer. lol  Still getting used to being around home all the time.  I have to get on it soon.  I have a 1962 Shell Lake boat that is getting a new wood keel and fiberglass.   Needless to say it's eating up a lot of time. lol  Summer is short in Wisconsin, so best to use the nice days when we got 'em. :D
