Matt, I think you're misunderstanding the point I was trying to make.
Whether or not it was a good or bad thing is NOT the point I was after.
Rather... it was the fact that a small group of individuals created a website that, very simply, gives people the information they originally wanted.
The idea would be something like...
Give me (accurate and truthful) information and I'll decide for myself. :D  :P
Well yeah sure, that should be the first paragraph of the requirements document.
There are thousands of developers that could whip this out in their sleep. But they weren't picked for this sole source contract. You have to ask yourself why. You also have to ask yourself is, providing accurate and truthful information to the public so they can decide for themselves, in the best interest of those in control of this whole scam. The answer to the later is, of course not. ObamaCare was written by the insurance companies and what is a company's number one priority? Maximize profits. Higher up the food chain than that there are other goals at work, like crushing the middle class, reducing population, creating chaos and riots, disarming the public and on and on. If you don't see the big picture than obviously none of this makes sense, which is also a goal. But if you do see the bigger picture, it all makes perfect sense.
Now these dudes come along and build a website that does what the original site should have done in the first place; what do you think the response will be? The majority will decide that ObamaCare can take a hike and pay the penalty. And the funny thing here is, the end result will still be the same, people will be pis$ed off and broke. So it's a win-win for those at the top either way.
In my case, the alternative website is useless though.
Colorado has their own healthcare exchange, and hasn't shared that data with us yet. We are working around the clock to import their data from state records.
