It seems to work quite well as a pickup coil when I tested with rodin coil or abha coil broadcasting pulses or a sine wave. It was better than use solenoid coils or even rodin and abha coils as pickup coils. So, wireless energy is one thing that you can look at.

Or you can have some fun with it in a Bedini SSG.

Joule Thief circuits works using a complete sphere (two halfs), although the results were nothing exceptional.
