Ive had a quick go at whipping the carb off the scooter and tipping some HHO in off a brute force cell that does about 1 litre per min. No running, got a couple of firings but mainly backfires. LOUD backfires! Thankyou Justin for the flashback arrestors! They work a treat. Going to start making an adjustable timing rig for the spare engine as i think thats half the problem, maybe not enough gas flow? I might try running it from a baloon of HHO for starters.
the arrester will slow the HHO from the balloon... i just did this this weekend... lets just say the dust was falling from places i had never seen after it exploded from the back fire... lol you are having the same prob as i... lol  WERE EAR PLUGS!!!!

i will highlight that clip on j.tv this week and post it in the gen set thread... but i did get the gen set to run on H from the bottle. it was scary... lol fire out the carb in a 12" fire ball till i had shut off the gas... lol fun times!

Yes i went out to the van and dug out 2 sets of ear defenders for next time, yeah i figured the arrestor will slow it down. i was going to make up some long leads to operate my starter motor via a relay so i didnt have to be near the balloon if goes bang.

here is what i found out... once its running you can put more in to it... but if your just trying to start it kick it on to create that vacuum then turn on the gas... this will help from backfiring... or at least it did when i was doing my tests,,,

Hi Guys,

Can i try this on a 25cc two stroke engine, or is this more dangerous than backfiring.....? i'll probably have to keep the flash backs in mind because bruit force cells and bubblers won't work or rather don't work with that kind of production.... BOOM as i experieced and deaf for about 5min HA HA... it was kind of fun and scarry at the same time...

If you got a backfire in a 2 stroke it would probly blow your reed valve out if its got one. Aside from that you need the mixing oil dissolved in the fuel for lubrication of big end/little end and cylinder wall. my guess is a 2 stroke could possibly run...but not for long. Some 2 strokes do have a separate oil feed pump but again relies on the fact the oil dissolves in the gasoline.
My four stroke scooter wont run on 1 LPM , I kinda didnt expect it to but it was a starting point i soppose.

Great stuff.. This information is very helpful for the people..  All moped engines operate on the same principles.  Every engine needs Compression, good fuel, and good spark to run. If your machine has been sitting for a long time, there are a few things you should check out before trying to start the engine.
