It could just be the way I've been searching...
I'm trying to compile / find at least one datasheet with the following (relating to rodin / abha coils):
Internal Diameter
External "
Torus Diameter (thickness)
Wire guage(s)
Wire length(s)
Turns
Impedence
Inductance
Field strength (primary, secondary)
etc.
I can't seem to find a decent collation of said information. I'm yet to wind my own, but I've been pulling apart micro-waves and old tv's to build up a collection of copper wire. Basically I want to be able to calculate exactly how much wire and what guage I'll need for a toroid of external diameter X. Perhaps I've just overlooked the information because it's hidden amongst all sorts of other stuff... but all I seem to be able to find is winding patterns, or people with pre-wound coils showing how 'cool' they are... no specifics on how much wire, size and volume of torus, etc.
I'm considering trying to use an old BMX tyre (minus the tyre's internal wire) or even an old car inner-tube filled with something less compressible than air and some nice, thick wire... but I don't want my torus to be too 'flat' or 'fat'... I understand that the basic geometry won't change however I'm convinced that thin wire on a large torus is likely to be less useful on a large volume toroid (even if I go the abha route: I'd prefer to use the thickest guage I can).
I will continue to scour the internet and the forums and I'll try and post any data I do manage to collate.
help?
directions to nearest friendly star-system?
facepalm?
