*** OPEN-SOURCE-ENERGY.ORG RULES & GUIDELINES ***

ALL work must be documented, at the least loosely, and explained upon request of other members. This platform is strictly Open Source. If you do not want to accurately and honestly Open Source your methods, data and procedures to the best of your ability, do not post here. If you are looking to personally profit without free Open Source sharing of your work then please go elsewhere. Do not take this the wrong way, if you want to sell a product that is fully Open Sourced, we welcome that, no secrets! You can however post Non-Open Source products or services in “Products & Services in Support of Open-Source-Energy Research” forum.

General guidelines which will guide us in our adventure are;

1. As individuals, although clever and hardworking, we are not able to overcome this hurdle or incredibly efficient energy production as an individual and must work as a team.

2. As a group, through freely sharing our ideas and resources we believe Together it is quite possible to contribute and increase human kind’s power as a race.

3. We must provide the Circumstances for mutual success in our efforts.

4. We must believe that our goal is attainable.

5. The DECISION must be made to conquer our goals.

6. We must take ACTION, which is the most important step in this entire process.

7. We will of course obtain results of all kinds and to share them for the better of our group is of utmost importance.

8. We all must have faith that we will succeed.

9. Though no member will have absolute power in the group, a means of condensation of purpose and direction will be established.

10. This platform is not a free source of advertising for your business, you can post related information in the “Products & Services in Support of Open-Source-Energy Research” forum, however this isn't a product showcase in anyway.

11. Always reference where your data came from. One MUST put all copied information under quotes with a link to original data. Do not post any copyright right information without the proper consent.

12. Failure to Comply may volunteer you for banishment from the forum, and deletion of user account. Hopefully it doesn't come to this!

13. If you do get banned, you are not allowed to Re-Register as a different user. By doing so, you will be banned on the spot with no questions asked.

14. Rules are subject to change at any time to better the forum. We are open for suggestions.

15. When you post something on this forum, it becomes public property of the forum.

16. ALL POSTS MAY BE REMOVED BY ADMIN AT ANYTIME IF NOT COMPLIANT WITH THE RULES.

17. You will need to let the moderators know when you are going to update a post that had drastic measures. We hold the right to close a thread when we do not know why something has been removed or deleted, so please inform us beforehand if you’re going to make drastic changes to your posts. (drastic changes are things like removing photos, making major updates to a post, ECT.)

18. Constructive criticism, questioning theories and challenging false claims are of course not considered to be offensive, it's only when the arguments starts to include personal insults that the lines have been crossed.

19. Silly banter written in harmless jest is for the most part accepted, but ultimately it's up to forum staff to decide what goes is not something which is open for public debate.

20. If warnings are to be issued then the member’s public warning status will automatically increase as a result of this.

21. If forum staff so decides, the member will even face a temporary ban from the forum, the length of which the forum staff sees fit. Should the total warning status reach 100% a permanent ban will be issued and the account may consequently be deleted.

22. This forum will not tolerate any derogatory behavior from any member, so if you value your membership here then you'd better act accordingly.

You can however link directly to a specification sheet or product image, provided such link or image is in no way associated with commerce.  Any links posted with in the forums may be removed with out notice. See below for details on this rule.

24. To staff discretion, any duplicate account may be merged with your original account and be permanently banned.

*** “Products & Services in Support of Open-Source-Energy Research” FORUM RULES & GUIDELINES ***

To better facilitate the transfer of products and services between members of open-source-energy.org and third-party vendors, we have created a forum dedicated to this mission. We have determined a strict adherence to purely Open Source objectives is a detriment to progress and are aware many Open-Source-Energy Research projects require the acquisition of third-party components and services. So to provide a clear delineation between the fully Open Source forums and these proprietary third-party vendors, we have constructed this forum as a landing point. Here is how we intend for this to work:

A. Non-Open Source products or services must be listed in this forum. To reference such materials or services from your Open Source project thread, you will need to first create the thread in this new forum that accurately describes the product or service with links to external websites or other contact information where the product or service can be purchased.

B. The next step is to link from your project thread to the thread you created as stated above above. This needs to be done whether you are building a project or just having a discussion about a potential project. We understand this introduces a bit of extra work when posting here at open-source-energy.org, but we feel it is an acceptable and necessary step to separate work that is truly Open Source from work that is not.

C. To check for compliance and proper use, it is expected within the other forums, there should be no links directly to outside vendors where a product or service is described and shown to be for sale. You can however link directly to a specification sheet or product image, provided such link or image is in no way associated with commerce. So as an example, consider these two links:

Example. 1.
http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Micr...h%2fFvs%3d
The above link would be considered unacceptable since it depicts a specific vendor where pricing information is described. In order to have such a link, you would need to create a new thread in the “Products & Services in Support of Open-Source-Energy Research” forum area, then reference it from the other forum areas. Most external links such us those to eBay would fall in this category. I would also caution using direct image links describing a specific vendor--these may also fall under this category.

Example. 2.
http://www.micrel.com/_PDF/mic4421-22.pdf
This link on the other hand simply shows the specification of a particular part and provides no real information as to how to obtain the part. A link like this would be considered acceptable and would not require a jump link to the “Products & Services in Support of Open-Source-Energy Research” area.

D. Ultimately, this may be seen as a bit of a pain and the question should arise, “What problem does this solve?” The benefit is it provides a mechanism for members of open-source-energy.org to sell products or services by listing them in this new forum and referencing them within the main forums--something we have strictly forbidden up until now. So for example, you wish to wind coils and have a really slick mechanism to do so. You may want to provide this service to other members and make a few dollars on the side to help you with your other research. The changes we are proposing will allow you to venture into this territory, provided you follow the rules as described herein.

E. There are some restrictions being imposed to create threads in this forum area; that being you must be a non-Newbie member in good standing. One must have at least 20 quality posts and have been a member for at least 90 days. This is to curtail the obtrusive spammer that has no interest in Open-Source-Energy Research and who want to accomplish their own goal. Other limitations and changes can and will be implemented as needed to make this as useful and as painless as possible.

F. Any links posted on the open-source-energy.org site before 1-1-14 will be considered “grandfathered in” and the rules for links do not apply.

Please check our notification page regularly if you wish to engage in any such activity.

These are just some guidelines, ultimately overly argumentative behavior, trolling and otherwise offensive behavior will not be tolerated, such posts will be moderated and the poster will even be banned if so determined by the forum staff.
