How about pages 49-51, self powered, I guess Ham radio, powered by a Germanium diode capable of supplying enough juice to operate a transistor :blink:
Or maybe it's just me not having seen such Ham powered RF radio circuits before which uses transistors aswell.

I looked for some higher voltage FET's and the price jumps up quite a bit (when the current is also high).

Then I found IGBT (Integrated Gate Bipolar Transistor) for 65 cents each. It should be a drop in replacement to my current fets.
