Laser pointer to burning laser mod.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Hab3tAQaVA
Here's one from a DVD burner, RED, maybe it could be used in the gas gun.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=x1ju...ature=fvwp
This is also very interesting, of course the last couple vids are salvage projects.

It all looks good on paper, then there's reality.
A failure may only be the confirmation that the theory is not valid.
It does not mean that there is no solution.
To solve a problem, you must define it.
A High School Kid just solved a 300 year old mathematical conundrum involving trajectories.

Hi Robert, I have built three different lasers, two from dvd burners red and blue, then a green one from a laser pointer, they all burn.

Build a laser diode driver using a LM317

you can buy drivers here,

RE: Laser pointer to burning laser mod.
Great videos Jeff, it appears you are a fire bug.
I guess my point is, that unless the laser can burn, it's just a bright light.

I was just thinking about the gas gun.
I know Russ is great at reverse engineering Stan's work and the one he built is probably accurate as it gets, but they are not real lasers.
And in reality these lasers, laser diodes, are not real lasers.

The core of a real laser is a crystal that has a xenon flash lamp wrapped around it.
the crystal polarizes the light and gives it a linear path.
The Laser Diode is a bright light in front of tiny magnifying glass.

But this actually could better than an actual laser for a gas gun application because it can be focused to a point inside the gas gun at an intensity below vaporization unless you want steam.

Point one of your lasers into a cup of water, see what happens.

It all looks good on paper, then there's reality.

I have pointed one into a glass of water, also into my cell while producing HHO, nothing appears to happen.

You didn't see steam in the water?

And remember, you can't see anything at the molecular level.
Also the gas gun has a couple dozen lasers.

Saw no steam, no change what so ever.

RE: Laser pointer to burning laser mod.
That must mean that the water diffused or refracted the laser light.
That still doesn't mean that the electrons weren't stimulated, it just wouldn't be obvious to the human eye.
It may also mean that the water may not get hot or over heated either.

I think it's all the above and more. Don't have the right test equipment to prove or disprove any of this though.

Yes it was about 4 years ago, for my cnc plasma cutting machine, the lasers I built were not powerful enough to cut with though, just an experiment.CoolBig Grin

I saw a few of the CNC machines, cutting mostly balsa.

Yes, I wanted to cut plastic, wood and metalBig Grin.

Oh yes, one water jet cnc machine used, is over 100 grand, the plasma machine I built was about 12,000 with my labor, maybe more.Big Grin
